About Us:

About the Coalition

A collaboration of the National Asian Pacific American Women’s Forum (NAPAWF), the National Latina Institute for Reproductive Health (NLIRH), and the Black Women’s Health Imperative (BWHI), Women of Color United for Health Reform seeks to elevate the voices of women of color during the national health reform debate.

Our organizations have been working individually to mobilize our communities and activist networks. Together, we can illuminate the shared experiences that all women of color face with the current health care system and sound the call for real health care reform that benefits women, families, and communities of color.

About Our Organizations

The National Asian Pacific American Women’s Forum (NAPAWF) is the only national, multi-issue Asian and Pacific Islander (API) women’s organization in the country. Under the leadership of Miriam Yeung, NAPAWF is building a movement to advance social justice and human rights for API women and girls. National Asian Pacific American Women’s Forum
The National Latina Institute for Reproductive Health (NLIRH) is the only national Latina reproductive health and rights organization representing an increasingly diverse and growing Latina population. Headed by Silvia Henriquez, NLIRH works to ensure the fundamental human right to reproductive health and justice for Latinas, their families, and their communities through public education, community mobilization, and policy advocacy. The Black Women’s Health Imperative is the only organization devoted solely to advancing the health and wellness of America’s 19.5 million Black women and girls through advocacy, community health and wellness education, and leadership development. Founded in 1983 by health activist and McArthur genius Byllye Y. Avery and currently run by Eleanor Hinton Hoytt, the Imperative promotes optimal health for African American women across their lifespan – physically, mentally and spiritually.
